Naa Bangaaru Talli, the only Telugu movie to win 3 national awards in the last 25 years, is all set to hit the American shores on 27th November, exactly a week after its release in India. What the movie is achieving as it continues its successful run in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bangalore, Chennai and Mumbai has been inspiring not just to followers of meaningful cinema, but also to the common man who buys a movie ticket to be entertained for 2 hours – the difference being that Naa Bangaaru Talli confronts them with real life emotions from a real life story, something unexpected in the milieu of formulaic films Telugu audiences are subjected to. The movie has been shot in original locations of Rajahmundry and Hyderabad where this shocking story of sex trafficking actually happened to a girl who Dr. Sunita Krishnan, the producer of the film, rescued through her organisation Prajwala.

Megastar Chiranjeevi has been one of the first ones to publicly proclaim that Naa Bangaaru talli does not fit into the mould of slow and boring` that award movies generally fall into. “This is an out and out commercial film,” declared the icon of almost 150 movies after watching the movie, “and I request each person to watch the movie, show to three others and request them to show it to three others.” Actress Samantha was in tears after watching the movie and said she will carry the feeling inside of her, for a long time – a feeling echoed by most comments on the film`s Facebook page by those who`ve watched the film.

The user rating on Bookmyshow.com for Naa Bangaaru Talli is “super hit”, and its critics rate it an outstanding 4/5, as does The Hindu newspaper – a validation for the 5 international awards the movie won in the US and Indonesia, apart from the National Awards for Best Telugu Film, Best Actress (special mention) and Best Music (background) from the President of India. A Telugu website reports that this movie directed by Rajesh Touchriver collected 6.4 crores in its first weekend – quite the stamp of approval for a film that had to turn to crowd funding to reach the theatres! The movie opens in 7 theatres in the US, and trade pundits forecast the number will dramatically increase once the word spreads. Praneeth Media planned to release in the following locations starting from Nov 27th:

1. Big Cinemas Movie City, Edison, NJ
2. DC Cinemas , Falls Church , VA
3. MovieMax Cinemas, Niles, IL
4. Navrang Theater, Atlanta, GA
5. Regal MacArthur Marketplace 16, Irving TX
6. Towne 3 Cinemas, San Jose, Ca
7. Roxy Cinemas, Renton, WA.
