After the love story "Murari" and the minority-bashing "Khadgam", ace director Krishna Vamsi has come up with "Sri Anjaneyam", a unique film about the monkey god Hanuman and present day society.

Lord Hanuman (played by Arjun) will appear in human form unlike previous films about the god.

"In my film, Hanuman is disturbed about present day society," explains Vamsi. He says he chose the deity as he played a significant role in uniting Ram and Sita in the epic Ramayana.

"Even today people seek his blessings in times of distress," says the renowned maker who has signed youngsters Nitin and Charmi to fuse a love story into the Hanuman myth.

Briefly, the Telugu extravaganza that was released Friday, tells the tale of a young devotee who seeks the blessings of Lord Hanuman to win his love and life.

Vamsi has spent a fortune on a Hollywood crew and graphics.

"The climax scene involved flying over 600 ft. Working with professional technicians was a rich experience. The graphics will enthral viewers," promises Vamsi, who revived his home production for the film as the theme required a wacky producer.

"After a few bitter experiences with outside banners, I have made it on my own since it has unique content, demanding big money." Vamsi's pet project has cost him Rs. 110 million.

He is confident about the film's success since it deals with contemporary issues.

"Faith in god will remain a relevant theme as long as humanity exists," he declares.

Vamsi has again teamed up with composer Mani Sharma, probably in order to revive the magic of "Murari".

The album, a good mix of devotional and romantic numbers, has been selling like hot cakes. The director asserts that the "titillating" songs will not dilute the sanctity of the subject.

Long ago, revered maker Bapu handled a similar theme in "Muthyala Muggu" and tasted big success. Can Vamsi repeat the feat?
