Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Dharmendra, Dev Anand, Rajesh Khanna... Bollywood would have been dull if not for these actors. What makes them most loved actors of our cinema?
Their charisma, their style, their performance... People over the years grew watching them, loving them and making them their dream idols. They are being hailed as icons of screen. But alas, the same charm does not exist in todays film scene.
And Karan Johar would surely nod on this... The B-towns favourite filmmaker is pondering where the screen hero worship has gone. Comparing with the bygone years where audience were crazy over film stars, Karan is of opinion that in todays age stardom has got diluted since there are lots of younger stars now.
The maker of several blockbuster romantic and family dramas feels that now things are mostly changing due to technology. Karan said that actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman, Akshay, Ajay, Hrithik and Saif enjoy a great star status which is unattainable.
However same cant be achieved by the upcoming actors. With social media and smart phones in hands, the younger generation are more aware about the day-to-day happenings in a celebritys personal life.
Karan even agrees to the fact that in a way technology has a hand in killing the star. "The euphoria around a star has watered down," KJo had said in an interview. And apparently, in order to keep the young lot entertained and interested, the ace filmmaker has been introducing new talent every year through his Dharma Productions.
The producer has Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani to be releasing soon while two projects Hasee Toh Phasee' and 'Gori Tere Pyaar Mein' are under production.
