Over 2 decades ago, music mogul Gulshan Kumar approached director Mahesh Bhatt with a musical love story and this joining of two great minds lead to the release of the successful ‘Aashiqui’. Following the adage of "no nude is good news", the film is still popularly spoken off decades after its release.

Years went by and focus gradually shifted from heart to body, sensationalism made headlines and everyone jumped onto the popular bandwagon. History repeated, as industry’s young stalwart Bhushan Kumar (T-Series), this time yet again approached Vishesh Films to carry the legacy forward and make the next instalment of the franchise, rightly titled ‘Aashiqui 2’.

The thought of matching upto the film’s glory never crossed producer-director Mahesh Bhatt’s mind until recently as Shagufta Rafique penned a heart breaking narrative of ‘grownup’ love story.

‘Aashiqui 2’ directed by Mohit Suri starring Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor brings back an eternal love story which has garnered a U certificate like the preceding musical love story ‘Aashiqui’. ‘Aashiqui’ (1990) spoke about love, romance and relationships which was applauded by the masses.

T-Series and Vishesh Films, hoping to garner the same reaction, decided on making a love story that holds the same significance of an everlasting musical drama that emotes love, romance and modern relationships. This gave ‘Aashiqui 2’ a clear chit, a ‘U’ certificate, from the censor board.

Talking about the significance of the film says producer Mahesh Bhatt, "Aashiqui 2 ushers in the glorious golden period of cinema... a switch from lust to love... body to heart...It celebrates middle class values and brings back the kind of cinema that our audiences have forgotten once entertained them to the hilt".

Added producer Bhushan Kumar, "Aashiqui 2 announces the return of simple heartfelt cinema that is high on emotions and content - The music is reminiscent of the kind that put T-Series on the charts and we are extremely proud to take the franchise forward". Bhushan Kumar adds, "The music of this franchise is topping the charts with Tum hi Ho, Sunn Raha Hai and the rest of the album is gaining the same success similar to Aashiqui(1990)."

The musical drama ‘Aashiqui 2’ is scheduled to release 26th April 2013.
