The Nandi Awards for the year 2011 to the artists and technician were presented on the eve of Ugadhi yesterday. Some famous personalities have attended the event along with the winners.Big B Amitabh Bachchan was the special attraction at the event.
Chief minister Kiran Kumar reddy and minister D.K.Aruna presented the awards to the winners.
The prestigious NTR national award was received by Amitabh Bachchan, Nagireddy- Chakrapani award was received by Ghattamaneni Adhi Seshagiri Rao and Raghupathi Venkaiah award was given to Sri Kaikala Satyanarayana
Mahesh Babu received the best actor award for 'Dhookudu' and Nayanathara received the best actress award for 'Srirama Rajyam'. Akkineni Nagarjuna was conferred the special jury award for Rajanna.
DK Aruna said, "Currently the movies are going in bad ways compared to before. We will take serious measures on those type of movies in the future. This is a warning from the government. It is a very sad thing that some Telugu movies are not having Telugu titles. It is our wish that Telugu movies should have only Telugu titles".
Amitabh said, "It is a great honour for me to receive an award in the name of great NTR. I am very proud of it. The relation between NTR and me cannot be expressed in words. I used to remake his movies and he used to remake mine. We used to exchange some valuable suggestions then. It is a great feeling to receive this award today. Cinema is a powerful to medium for the integration of a nation. It will bring all to one place not considering the religion, caste or anything. We are at the moment of celebrating the completion of 100 years of our Indian cinema. We have to memorize god father of Indian Cinema, Dada Saheb Phalke and his first movie 'Raja Harischandhra' on this occasion. I am very happy to receive this award in these moments".
Kaikala Satyanarayana said, " A chance is very important for a man to prove himself and his growth. I heartfully thank all the producers, directors and technicians, who had given me chances. A man will relax from the duties and responsibilities of family after some age and getting awards like this then will seem like the result of their hardwork".
Aadhi Seshagiri Rao said that he was very happy at receiving the Nagireddy - Chakrapani award, as he started his career in their guidance.
All the others who received the awards expressed their joy.
