The Malkajgiri court in Hyderabad ordered that the police slap a case against the producer, director and two actors of Dhenikaina Reddy following a petition filed by certain Brahmin organizations. The organizations alleged that the film has dialogues that slight the Brahmin community and also some of the characters, who are Brahmins, are portrayed in a cheap light.

They had staged a demonstration in front of Mohan Babu's residence in Hyderabad. Since the actor was on a pilgrimage to Nellore alongwith his son, Vishnu, they could not seek an apology which they sought to extract from him. To make the matters worse, Mohan Babu, while speaking to reporters in Nellore, doubted that those who held the demonstration were bona fide and insinuated that they were paid to do it.

This hurt them even more and they approached the court.

The court has said in its order that the police book a case against Mohan Babu, Nageshwar Reddy, Vishnu and Brahmanandam.

In a related incident, a group of Brahmin demonstrators assembled at Sri Mayuri Theatre at RTC X Roads demanding that the film be not screened. Some of them were arrested by the cops.
