Haemophilia, a life-consuming disease that impairs the body's ability to control blood clotting, often goes undetected in children largely due to lack of awareness about it among the general population or sometimes due to negligence on the part of parents. The Hyderabad chapter of a Society doing its best to combat Haemophilia conducted an awareness campaign on Oct 2 in which actress Samantha and director Nandini Reddy took part and promised to do their bit.
"When I first heard about the disease, I felt very sad. There is a need for parents to be careful about the health of their offspring. I will definitely render help to children suffering from Haemophilia", she said, adding that she had suffered skin problems and underwent treatment recently for two months.
Nandini Reddy said, "There are many organisations working to spread awareness about AIDS and Cancer. We should do whatever we can in spreading awareness about Haemophilia. I will try to generate awareness by having a child character suffering from the disease in a film I will direct."
