Producer Maheshwara Reddy did not have any profit motive when he decided to produce Shirdi Sai. "Even if just 1000 people pay a pilgrimage to Shirdi after watching the movie, my life will have been blessed. So far, 40-50 lakh people have watched our movie. It will not be surprising even if one crore people watch it," he said.

"K Raghavendra Rao garu read about 320 books to learn something new about Baba's philosophy. Some situations are dramatised in the movie," he says.

He talks about Chiranjeevi's reaction after watching it. "Chiranjeevi garu watched our movie along with his family. His grandmother (maternal) watched a movie after 15 years. She complimented me saying that the film will be remembered by next 10 generations. I also cherish Chiranjeevi garu's compliments."

He adds that the film has been doing well everywhere. "I got my investment back within first two days of release. I heard that devotional films don't do well in the overseas market. However, our film has collected Rs. 3-4 cr there."

He has plans to make films with spiritual content and social messages.
