By winning the Best Debut Director at the Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival, in May, Raj Madiraju made himself and Tollywood proud. His film, Rushi, is back in news. It has been selected for screening at Marbella International Film Festival, from 3rd to 7th October 2012.
Over 800 films from 52 countries were submitted to the festival, out of which the screening panel shortlisted a limited number of them. "Judges had some very difficult decisions to make while reducing the number of such high calibre applicants to limited number to be awarded the screening status at the festival. So you must feel very proud, that your work has been recognised among the very best to appear at this prestigious international film festival, we thus, congratulate you for your efforts, and wish you success," the organizers informed the makers of Rushi.
Our review of the film said, "The strength of this seemingly highbrow film lies in intermingling emotions, romance, sentiment, and debate in the right proportions. Director Raj Madiraju shows a characteristic canniness when he starts augmenting the proceedings with his convictions. Consequently, his film easily crosses into a zone where the humanism it tries to argue for lends it that distinct "human story" quality. The flavour of Rushi, on the face of it, is multiplex, but nobody who watches the second half will not want to appreciate its universal essence and intelligent touch."
Rushi was produced by Ramesh Prasad on LV Prasad banner.
