Kamal Hassan is a 'Universal Hero' whose very mention conjures up images of the very many unforgettable roles he has played in his illustrious career spanning decades. However, not many, including his die-hard non-Tamil fans across the globe, know that he was born as Parthasarathy.

That the actor bore some other pious name was not known to many until Kamal alias Parthu himself revealed it recently on a popular TV show hosted by actor Suriya. This show, which resembles the format of Kaun Banega Crorepathi, saw Shruthi Hassan as the celebrity participant the other day. She was asked as to the elephant of which temple crushed the Tamil poet Subramanya Bharathi to death. The actress opted for a lifeline and called her papa.

After answering the question rightly that it was an elephant belonging to the famous Parthasarathy temple of Triplicane, Kamal matter-of-factly said that he was originally named after the deity.
