On hold for last couple of years, 'Paan Singh Tomar' is now finally ready for release. While the film's director Tigmanshu Dhulia is happy that his decade long dream of bringing this story on screen is finally turning out to be a reality, for it's lead actor Irrfan Khan the film's release is akin to a 'bidaai' given to a 'dulhan'.
"Guess we have held on to her for quite some time. Now is the time for us to give 'Paan Singh Tomar' a decent 'bidaai' and send her to 'sasural' (read theatres). Jitna khayaal humen iska rakhna tha, who rakh liya," quips Irrfan who plays the title role of an athlete turned dacoit in the film.
Ready for quite some time now, the film had travelled various film festivals during last couple of years. Moreover the film's producers (UTV) wanted the best release time for the film before unleashing it on screens.
"Yes, UTV folks were trying to look for a clean week. Also, we were going through quite a few film festivals," details Irrfan, "Since some festivals have a rule that only unreleased films can be showcased there, we couldn't afford to release it in India. We were anyways well aware of the potential that it carried and hence were in synch with UTV's decision. They have done all to position the film correctively."
Also starring Mahie Gill and Vipin Sharma, 'Paan Singh Tomar' releases this Friday.
