Vennela 1 1/2, which is a sequel to Vennela, has been in news solely because of its director. Comedian Kishore is debuting as director with this romantic comedy. It was fitting that from VV Vinayak to Deva Katta and the heroes Manchu Manoj and Nara Rohit, everybody turned out to wish him grand success as a director.

Vinayak said that when he heard the story from the producer, Varma, he liked it immediately. It sounds so fresh, he said. "I like Kishore's comic timing a lot. I wish that this film will be a success."

Deva Katta recalled that Kishore had approached him for director's job, but since he liked him, he cast him as a comedian in Vennela. Kishore’s contribution in the film’s success was significant, Katta noted. He vouched for the novelty in the story of Vennela 1 ½.

Manoj said that he was to act in the film, but he missed it. Music director Sunil Kashyap, whose recent album It's My Love Story featured some good numbers, hoped that the audio will be a big it.

Kishore's speech was awaited. "I like the first half of Vennela a lot. I wrote this story with that inspiration. Sunil Kashyap has lent the music because of the love he has for Vennela. He has delivered a very good music."

Producer Varma said that Kishore has made the film quite well.
