The 50-day run of Sri Rama Rajyam was held yesterday at Shilpa Kala Vedika. Gracing the event were the likes of Dasari, SPB, Illayaraja, K Vishwanath, D Ramanaidu, K Raghavendra Rao, Krishnam Raju, Murali Mohan and others, besides the film's makers and actors (including Nayanathara who was seen sporting a saree).

The speakers praised the genius of Bapu and reiterated one more time that SRR qualifies to be called a film of international standards. Dasari said that he was moved to tears watching the performance of Balakrishna. In his emotional speech, where he took potshots at those blowing the trumpet about having broken the records, he described NBK as the true inheritor of the great NTR's legacy. (Well, when Dasari likes something, it is certain that he will drown you in an avalanche of praises).

Dasari hailed Bapu to the skies. "At a time when we are self-exorcising lamenting that films of global standards are not made in Telugu, Sri Rama Rajyam was made. Not 50 days, this film must play in the theaters for one year. Films like Lava-Kusha and SRR are made once in a Yuga. Records are not important. What is important is how many hearts your film has really touched. Bapu has been an experimental director since the days of making his debut, Sakshi."

Dasari also said that while NTR impressed in Rama’s role at 40, Balakrishna has achieved the feat at 50.

SP Balasubramaniam's speech too was marked with opulent praises for SRR. Saying that more and more should walk in the path of Yelamanchili Sai Babu (producer) and make good films, he called upon the filmmakers to make films that portray our rich culture in a positive light.
