What is common between Maestro Illayaraja and his son Yuvan Shankar Raja? Well, they both have recently lent the best background score and re-recording for two Telugu films. You guessed it right: Sri Rama Rajyam and Panjaa, respectively.

The Bapu film, the re-recording of which was done with absolute diligence and extra care by Illayaraja, who reportedly spent more than 12 hours a day to belt out the best possible score and recording, has been much written-about (and rightly so) for this unique reason. So is the case with Panjaa, where Yuvan gave the most pulsating output to the film directed by his child-hood friend Vishnu Vardhan.

The quality of work that has been brought out by these two directors is proof that talent exchange between two industries will only lead to a unique synthesis. Though the father-son duo hail from Tamil Nadu, they worked for the Telugu films with the same dedication as they would show working for a Tamil film. It will not be an exaggeration to say that both of them are the year's most favourite contenders for at least one prestigious award.

With so much at stake in films today, the creators want to show variety and superiority over other films in as many aspects as they can. It becomes easily possible for the film makers when master craftsmen are at work.
