Nikhil Siddharth, who was found guilty of drunken driving and booked under a Motor Vehicles Act section on Friday night, promised to never booze and drive in future. He said that he had always been a teetotaler. Quite unexpectedly, he had "two pegs of champagne" after a film function that night when his vehicle was stopped and he was tested positive for alcohol consumption.

After he was caught red-handed, he regretted his folly and went to the extent of publicly expressing it. He is also worried that the recent incident might have adverse impact on his image, especially when his film Veedu Theda is going to release in some days.

In fact, he told a newspaper that he would be ready to become the brand ambassador of Hyderabad Traffic Police and campaign for raising awareness against the risks of mixing driving and drinking.

“I will persuade my friends and others not to do so because we're endangering the lives of others by driving after taking alcohol,” he was quoted as saying yesterday at a public awareness campaign.
