Rana Daggubati is playing a character that has much similarities with today's youngsters, for the first time in his career. It may be noted that his roles in Leader and Nenu Naa Rakshasi were atypical.

Naa Ishtam, however, is quite different. He plays a lover boy in the film and romances Genelia. Interestingly enough, he does comedy (watch out for the scenes involving Brahmi and Rana) and bashes up the goons (courtesy Ram-Lakshman).

Directed by Prashanth Tholeti, the film is being shot at Ramoji Film City. Producer Paruchuri Kiriti says that Rana plays a youngster with an independent mindset. He doesn't care for what others think about him and simply follows his heart, he says.

The film is brandished as an entertaining love story.
