Though the first week response for Kamal's 'Gaddama' was lukewarm, the movie is reported to have picked in collections in its third week. In major cities especially in the northern parts of the state, the movie has become the talk of the town and this silent word of mouth has helped to maintain the movie in theatres for further weeks. More and more appreciations are for Kavya Madhavan who had lived the life of Aswathy, the desi girl forced to take up the job of a housemaid in the gulf, ultimately to fall prey of many atrocities including mental and physical abuse.
The director Kamal seems to have succeeded to give a worthful movie this time, after a couple of duds that affected his Box Office charisma as a hit maker. This story about expatriates and their difficult life in the Middle east is expected to find more and more viewers in the coming weeks, especially in a state where one fourth of the population are working away in foreign nations.
