‘Pasanga’ screening in China

The Indian embassy in China is organising an Indian film week that will begin in Beijing on June 24 as part of the 'India in China 2010' programme.

In all, 10 Indian films will be screened and ‘Pasanga’ is one among the celebrated films. ‘Pasanga’ is directed by debutant Pandiraj who was an assistant of Cheran. The film has been receiving lots of recognitions from both critical and popular circles ever since the film was released in 2009. ‘Pasanga’ got its director Pandiraj the Golden Elephant Award for Best Director at the 16th International Children's Film Festival held in Hyderabad recently. Lately 'Pasanga' was selected as the Best Film by the Pudhuchery Government.

Other movies are Taare Zameen Par (Hindi), Antaheen (Bengali), Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! (Hindi), Ek Cup Chai (Marathi), Keshu (Malayalam), The White Elephant, Shob Charitro Kalponik (Bengali), Gabhricha Paus (Marathi) and Harishchandrachi Factory (Marathi)

After Beijing, the festival will travel to Chongqing on June 28 and in July it will go to Guangzhou.

The 'India in China 2010' follows the 'China in India 2010' event that is being celebrated in India to mark the 60 years celebrations of Indo China relations. A three-city, Chinese film festival commenced in New Delhi on Monday with the screening of the film Confucius.
