Suriya comes clear on not acting in Sri Lankan film

Tamil actor Suriya, who came under immense pressure to clarify on media reports that he has signed to act for a Sri Lankan venture, has said that he will not act in a Sinhalese film and expressed shock at the reports which claimed he has signed one.

He was quoted as saying on Thursday, "There is no truth in it. I am currently acting in 'Singam' directed by Hari. My forthcoming projects are a Hindi movie by Ram Gopal Varma and a film in A R Murugadoss's direction. It will be produced by Udhayanidhi Stalin."

As his dismayed fans were outraged at the 'decision' of their favourite star, the soft-spoken actor decided come clear on the rumours.

The Tamil film industry members have always been sensitive to the public opinion in Tamil Nadu regarding the Tamils issue in Sri Lanka.

Suriya also released a press note stating the films he is currently associated with.
