Chithira Thirunal award for Mohanlal

Superstar Mohanlal has been selected for the year’s Sree Chithira Tirunal award. Instituted by the Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust in memory of the erstwhile King of Travancore, the award carries a cash bag of Rs One Lakh and a citation.

The award which was first announced in 2006 is in honour of individuals who have made exceptional contributions in art, science, literature, medicine, education and cinema. The earlier recipients of the award includes agricultural scientist M S Swaminathan, ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair and National Security advisor M K Narayanan.

Meanwhile, the new Tamil movie of Mohanlal with Kamal Haasan ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ is fetching great reviews and collections. The movie is particularly applauded for the powerful but restrained performance of the actor.
