For long, Malayalee filmmakers had somehow got a notion that the movie which is making the release as the first flick of a year will definitely become a non starter. For the last few years this has been proved without doubt with all the first releases bombing in the Box Office.

In most of the cases, the first movies were worth ending up as a flop as most were bad movies made on insipid scripts.

But for the year 2009, debut director is taking a chance by releasing his debut venture as the first movie. 2009 will thus open with the release of ‘Orkkuka Vallapozhum' directed by Sohanlal.

Veteran actor Thilakan will don the lead role of the movie as Sethumadhavan who is in the process of retrieving his adolescent memories. Debutante Shilpabala is the heroine.

Also in the cast are Jagadheesh, Krishanachandran, Meera Vasudev, Chalipaala and Rejith Mnon. M Jyachandran is in the charge of the music department of this movie produced by Vinu Y S in the banner of God's own movies.

The movie is all set to grace select theatres by this weekend.
