Straight films:

'Madhumasam' was a surprise hit here. Sumanth had a full-fledged hit and he was suddenly in demand. Reason for him and family to rejoice. He was suddenly bankable as long as the director and script was good.

Rajasekhar made a film which generated a lot of expectations. Though it did not do too well, he had his share of fame as the film got him lots of publicity. Another film that generated a lot of enthusiasm with its title was Adivaram…. The film did really well at the box-office as people thronged the theatres to see what it was all about.

'Maharathi' and 'Lakshmi Kalyanam' were among the films that were considered to be promising, but did badly at the BO. However, 'Lakshmi Kalyanam' introduced Kajal Agarwal to Telugu and that more than made up for the film’s fate. Kajal is looked upon as the most promising Mumbai find in a long, long time.

Among the dubbing films, 'Nuvvu Nenu Prema' with Surya and Jyotika created a flutter as it was their first release after their marriage. But the film was too boring for the audience to digest the story and the chemistry between the lead pair did not help either.
