Sunil Sharma is playing the title role in 'Buddha' directed by Allani Sridhar and produced by K Rajasekhar on the banner of Dharmapatha Creations.

Gauthama Buddha was born to remain a torch-bearer in preaching the non-violence. At a time, when violence is ruling the roost in the country, there is a strong need for reminding the people about the non-violent path shown by Buddha through his life history.

K Sivananda Murthy, father of the producer, had conducted a detailed research on the life, history and preachings of Gauthama Buddha and prepared an excellent script and screenplay.

The film is being simultaneously made in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and English languages.

The producer says, 'At least a fraction of Buddha's teachings should reach the society to prevent violence and that was the reason why we have come forward to bring out a film on the life and teachings of Buddha. Sasi Preetham provided melodious tunes with a perfect classical touch to suit those days for the movie.'

Suman, Puneet Issar, Surendra Paul, Parvathi Melgon, Kausha, Subbaraju, Ashokkumar and others are in the cast. The film is most likely to be released in October.
