Malayalee celebration in Tamil Nadu film awards

While the Tamil Nadu Government announced the film awards last week, most of the Malayalaee celebrities working with the Tollywood enjoyed receiving some accolades for their creativity.

Rajnikanth and Kamal Haasan have been chosen as the best actors for the years 2005 and 2006 respectively. While Rajnikanth won the best actor award for his performance in the blockbuster movie Chandramukhi (2005), Kamal Haasan got the honor for Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006), directed by another Malayalee Gautham Vasudeva Menon.

Chandramukhi, the Tamil remake of Malayalam Manichithrathaazhu, won a number of awards in 2005 including best actress for Jyothika and the best film. The Lohithadas film Kasthoorimaan was also selected as the best film in special category for glorifying women hood.

Another Malayalee who won the award was Priya Mani as the best actress for 2006 for her effective portrayal of a lively rural girl in Paruthi Veeran.

Meera Jasmine and Sandhya received the special awards for best actress for their roles in Kasthooriman and Dishoom respectively.

While actor Ajith won the M G R award, Madhu Balakrishnan won the awards for the best playback singer of 2006.
