Director Shankar was thrilled at the critical acclaim received by his home production Veyyil.

Directed by one of his associates Vasanthabalan, Veyyil was screened at Cannes International Film Festival besides few other prominent film festivals across the globe.

Starring Pasupathy, Bharath, Shreya Reddy and Bhavana, the movie has musical score by G V Prakash, nephew of A R Rahman.

Released last year, Veyyil had a decent running at the box office too.

Thrilled at the movie's success, Shankar has gifted a car to Vasanthabalan. It may be recalled that Shankar had similarly presented a car to director Simbhudevan, who gave a blockbuster hit in Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi starring Vadivelu in lead role, for Shankar's S Pictures.
