The name of South Indian Super Star Rajnikant in itself sounds something special and stylish. Rajnikant is known for his stylistic performance right from his debut film in 1975. It was his style that earned him fans across the globe in millions. It is no surprise that not even Hollywood artistes had such a huge fan following with an exception of one or two. The Box Offices everywhere shake whenever a film from Rajanikant hits the screen.
His latest flick 'Sivaji' is creating a sensation of sorts right from the day one of its shooting. Even as the film was on sets, the expectations started skyrocketing. Though the subject and the character of Rajnikant was kept a top secret, the film earned a lot of recognition across the globe. Moreover, the film is coming from a prestigious banner like AVM Productions as a Golden Jubilee film. At the same time, the film is being directed by one of the most talented and specialist director like Shankar. Here are some of the important and interesting facts about the film.
Director Shankar reportedly asked his team of technicians to watch the films of Rajnikant right from his debut film in 1975 to till date exclusively for the best-suited hairstyle for the hero. They came to a conclusion that the hairdo in Padikkadavan released in 1985 suited best to Rajnikant. Shankar summoned the hairstylist and make-up man of that film after 22 long years to do a similar make up and hairstyle again for Rajanikant.
However, it is a different matter to say that Rajanikant had donned 15 different hairstyles for this film. He also tonsured his head and shaven off his moustache for a get up in this film. A make-up artiste from France is flown in exclusively for the make up and hairstyles for the film.
Another speciality of the film is that director Shankar used more than 2,500 junior artistes exclusively for the introductory scene of Rajanikant.
About 1,000 kg beef meat was used for the shooting of an action scene in the film.
When it comes to songs, few were choreographed in US and Spain. The song 'Sahana ' was shot in a huge set of glass house built exclusively for the purpose. A helium balloon light was used to shoot another song. It is learnt that the crew has to use 13 helium cylinders for the lighting alone. It is surprising to note that three tankers of milk was used for the canning of a song on Rajnikanth and Shriya for a duet which was choreographed in Ramoji Film City.
For the first time in India the 4K DI (Digital Intermediate) digital camera was used to shoot the film. Unlike any other Telugu film over 600 scenes were done with the help of computer graphics and the length of this digital graphic scenes were said to be around 50 minutes. Yet another interesting point to mention here is that Soundarya, daughter of Rajnikant, personally supervised the computer graphics works and it took more than one year to complete this compute graphic works alone.
One more speciality of the film is that the film is being released simultaneously across the globe with over 2,500 prints. Probably for the first time, a south Indian film is being released simultaneously in the US, Singapore, Japan, China, Australia, New Zealand and other such countries, besides India.
Regarding the Telugu version of this film, Bellamkonda Suresh said to have bought the Telugu dubbing rights (excluding satellite, overseas, ring tones, audio etc) for a whopping Rs 14 crores. It is also learnt that this film was sold for more than Rs 20 crores in AP (Rs 4 crores for Ceded, Rs 7.5 crores for Nizam and Rs 9 crores from Andhra). It is worth mentioning here that the straight films of top south Indian stars, or for that matter the top Telugu heroes used to do a business of Rs 7 crores, but a dubbing film had done a business of Rs 7.5 crore which is really a record.
The film is all set to hit the screen on June 15. The audiences in general and fans of Rajnikanth in particular are holding their breath for the release of the film. Last but not the least, Shriya, the popular babe of south cinema is pairing up with Rajnikanth in the female lead.
