Movie Artistes' Association (MAA) president Mohan Babu said that he was able to complete his two-year tenure successfully, with the active cooperation of his executive body members.
Talking to journalists he says, 'I was elected unanimously as MAA president two years ago. During my tenure, I was able to take up several good activities with the cooperation from all the members. Especially, we organised star cricket on a large scale and the revenue was put in a fixed deposit for the benefit of poor film artistes. We also took out a rally and met the Chief Minister demanding action against the video piracy, which is eating away the film industry's profits. We have also received a positive response and took steps to check video-piracy.'
'We have also extended help to aged film artistes and Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) also came forward and cooperated with us. We profusely thank KIMS for its charity. We have also brought out certain changes in case of insurance to benefit the members. I am extremely satisfied about my tenure as MAA president during these two years. I thank one and all who supported in all the activities taken up by MAA. I wish to thank Vijayachander personally who accepted to donate two-acre land on the outskirts of the city for the benefit of aged film artistes. MAA would hold its elections to elect a new body on October 8. However, I am not contesting for the presidentship again due to personal reasons. I once again thank all those who gave me an opportunity to my contemporaries as a film artiste and producer', he adds.
Srihari, Mallikarjuna Rao, Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, SV Krishna Reddy, Vijayachander, Giribabu, Ahuti Prasad, Jeevita, Ali, Rajiv Kanakala, O Kalyan and other participated.
