Along with the trio of 'Bas Ek Pal', 'Pyaar Ke Side Effects' and 'Shiva', fourth film that releases this Friday is 'Kachchi Sadak'. The film takes on the issue of liqour mafia and how some young men get entangled into a deadly web of politics, mafia, law and police. There are number of firsts associated with the film, most importantly been:

1. Salman's jail

The infamous Jodhpur Central Jail that was recently in the news for superstar Salman Khan's three day stay is one of the major shooting locations of Kachchi Sadak. The Aaj Tak news channel recently aired a feature showing the prison cell that Salman was kept in. It is the same as Kachchi Sadak's lead actor Rahul Singh was kept in, in the film. Nearly 1/3rd of the film has been shot in this huge 19th century prison which holds an amazing record of zero escapes in 145 years.

2. Amrish puri's last film

Kachchi Sadak marks the last major screen performance by one of India's greatest actors - Amrish Puri. His contribution to Indian cinema and portrayal of a cynical jailor in the film will be cherished by generations of viewers and aspiring actors. Few people are aware that Steven Spielberg once complimented Amrish ji as the universal bad man.

3. Ajmer Sharif pilgrimage

The universally renowned and secularly worshipped shrine of Khwaja Moin-Ud-Din Chisti will be seen on screen for the first time in 100 years of Indian Cinema. After obtaining special permission, a qawali (devotional song) has been filmed at the holy place. Sung by Pakistani singer Adnan Sami, the beautiful lyrics have been penned by one of India's great poets - Dr.Prabha Thakur, who is also an MP in the Rajya Sabha. Incidentally, Ajmer is also her political constituency and the song is her homage to the revered Khwaja.

4. Mithun's first cameo

While ruling the gallery as well as winning the maximum national awards in 30 years of his versatile career, Mithun never consented to a special appearance ever... until Kachchi Sadak happened. He plays a sufi qawaal at the Ajmer Shari Dargah and performs the devotional qawali on screen. Initially having refused to do the special appearance, he immediately agreed after he heard the qawali. Mithun is also an ardent worshipper of the shrine.

5. Rajasthan Tourism

The team of Kachchi Sadak is specially indebted to Rajasthan Tourism (one of the world's greatest tourism brands) for their help in our film project. It will never forget the magnanimity and support extended by the Honorable Chief Minister and the co-operative officers of the department.
