Real rural theme films are suddenly in short supply in Tamil films.

Only urban movies or some half-baked village subjects are churned out these days.

But Director Ameer, who is all set to begin his next Paruthi Veeran next week says, "the movie will bring a fresh lease of life to the industry where rural themes have become rare these days".

Dwelling on the movie, Ameer says, "I completed the entire script and screenplay before I decided on casting Karthi (veteran actor Sivakumar's younger son) as hero.

However, a search for a dark skinned girl speaking Tamil lead us nowhere and we chose Priya Mani."

The movie is a take off from a real life incident that happened in a remote village in Madurai. The movie will be ready for release this January.

So, has Bharathi Raja's replacement arrived?
