In cricket, a success of an innings depends a lot on its pacing. If you get the right momentum, then things will quickly fall into place.

It sure did for Gopichand with Yagnam. The menacing villain who turned hero with Yagnam, had everything going for him.

He looked rough and tough. He had that fire in those brooding eyes. And to boot, Yagnam had a good run at the box office. In short, there was plenty of momentum for Gopichand to build up a long innings.

As it happens, that has not been the case.

The young actor seems to have taken unduly long time for his next movie. Though offers were plenty, Gopichand couldn't make up his mind on what to choose.

Anyway, the one he hand-picked, Ranam, is going on to the floors today.

Interestingly, Pokuri Babu Rao who produced Yagnam is handling Ranam too.

Well-known dance master Rajasekhar is turning director in the film. Kamna Jethmalani is the heroine.

The highlight of the film will be Malayalam actor Biju Menon. This stylish actor will play the villain. Biju, who is married to actress Samyuktha Verma, is a well known actor in Malayalam.

Getting back to Gopichand, he has to quickly get going.

No longer the slow and steady mantra will work for him.
