IIFA Utsavam Postponed

The IIFA Utsavam management has decided to postpone the celebrations in a bid to show solidarity to the people of Chennai. The devasting floods have claimed around 239 lives and made many people stranded besides causing severe damage to properties. The South Indian Film Industry and the Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrashekar Rao and Governor ESL Narasimhan took an unanimous decision to postpone the event.
Allu Sirish, who is hosting the event, took to his micro-blogging page to confirm the news. "The IIFA Utsavam is postponed in solidarity with the ppl of Chennai. Its the right thing to do. #PrayForChennai," tweets Sirish.
The organisers of IIFa are planning to integrate a fund raiser on a large scale in support of Chennai. "The first edition of IIFA Utsavam in conjunction with the film industries of Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam will be held later as a fund raiser for the flood victims", reads a statement from the organisers.
