Mumbai Xpress may be a Tamil film to be dubbed in Telugu. But the Telugu audio has been launched first at a cute function in Rama Naidu Studios, Hyderabad.
Sources say that there is no particular reason for the Telugu audio hitting the market first. In Tamil, the audio is being launched by Kamal's newly-floated Rajkamal Music itself. But in Telugu, Surya Music is handling the rights.
Getting back to the function, it was a pleasant one with mutual admiration and effusive appreciation flowing freely.
The cynosure was undoubtedly Kamal himself as speaker after speaker spoke about his dedication and devotion to his chosen art and his inspiration to his team.
Director K Vishwanath, whose association with Kamal is a very long-standing one, released the first cassette.
He spoke at length about Kamal versatility and how he himself ended up as an actor because of Kamal.
Director Singeetham Srinivasa Rao pointed out that Kamal films' turn out better because he himself was an actor. Talking about Mumbai Xpress, the veteran said it was a family film with lot of attractions for every section of the audience.
He disclosed that the film was originally planned to be a song-less one. "Later we decided to go in for Ilayaraja. And now we realize, how right we are to have had the songs".
Kamal spoke with his usual understated humour, calling the veterans youngsters. "People like Vishwanath, Singeetham, Rama Naidu never get old," he said. In fact he went to the extent of suggesting that Singeetham had locked up his age at 25. "Singeetham was the one who encouraged a script writer in me", he said.
The film is salted for April 14th release.
