After 'Julayi', Allu Arjun and Trivikram once again collaborated for the movie, 'S/o Satyamurthy', which is releasing tomorrow (April 9th). On this occasion, we caught up with Allu Arjun for an interview.
Excerpts from the interview
Dignified character
Unlike my previous films, I played a very dignified character in 'S/o Satyamurthy'. In my previous film, 'Race Gurram', I played a middle class guy character. But I played a guy who is very rich in 'S/o Satyamurthy'. So my styling also looks very simple and dignified in the film. The styling in this film is very new for me.
Man of values
If we give something positive to others, it will return to us. If we give negative, that negativity will be returned. I played Viraj who believes in those values, learnt from his dad. The film is all about how he solves a problem he faces. I will be seen as a wedding planner in the movie.
I learnt so much from three of them
I am very happy to have worked with Samantha, Nitya Menon and Adah Sharma. I learnt so much from three of them. Samantha not only looks beautiful, she is also a very good performer. I learnt how to take care of our own staff from her. Nitya Menon has an extraordinary quality. She has no insecurity about her role in a film. She doesn't care if the character she is playing is central or side character. If the role is good, she will act.She played such characters in 'S/o Satyamurthy' and 'Rudhramadevi' , which are not central but important. I learnt from her that we shouldn't have wrong fear, we should only have right fear. It means, if you are well-prepared for something go ahead without any fear. Adah Sharma is a highly talented girl. She has excellent mimicry skills, which are shocking. I learnt how to take decisions quickly without thinking about anything much.
A director who gives
There are two types of directors. The directors who take and directors who give. Trivikram is the second kind. He gives a lot of inputs to us. What I like much about him is he has a very open state of mind. If someone says something he doesn't ignore. He thinks about it. He is a more matured director now than when he directed 'Julayi'. Though he looks effortless on the sets, he does a lot of hard work.
Both of us don't discuss about movies, when we are together. He watches a lot of Hollywood films and suggests me to watch a film if it is good and if any actor performed well.
I'm not such an actor
I am not an actor, who enjoys negative comments on other heroes. I keep myself away from people who talk badly about others. I don't know about others but I respect all my contemporaries. I never feel jealous of others. I want everyone to be successful.
No lip-lock
There are rumours that we deleted a lip-lock scene between me and Adah Sharma from the film. But it is not true. Adah played a small character and there is no scope for a lip-lock. I understood that if there is a lip-lock, the film is reaching only youth and not family audiences. So I am acting in lip-lock scenes of late.
Never easy working with him
Upendra is a very humble actor and it is a very good experience working with him. He played a very good role in the movie. Brahmanandam, M.S.Narayana etc played very good comic roles in the movie. It is never easy working with Brahmanandam, because I can't control laughter seeing him. I usually talk two to three takes more when acting with him.
Super hit album
Devi Sri Prasad always gives me beautiful albums. I ask him for a good melody and super hit mass song for every film. He also gave super hit melody 'Seethakalam Suryidilaaga' and mass number 'Super Machi' for this film.
I asked Gunasekhar for that role
'Baahubali' raises the standard of Telugu cinema to the next level and though I didn't act in it, I am proud of that movie. It is me who asked Gunasekhar that I will play Gona Gannareddy. He wants a star hero to play the character as the film will have a wider reach. But no one has agreed to play it may be because they were busy with other commitments. I said that I will play the character if he is ok with it. He said that he wrote the character keeping some other hero in mind and asked me some time to adapt it to me. After watching 'Race Gurram', he said that I am ok for the character. I am proud to have acted in such a film, which tells about our Telugu history and culture. It will give a new experiences to the audiences.
Not acting in that film
Though I was approached for a role in Bollywood film 'ABCD 2', I didn't accept the offer as I was busy with other commitments. But I will definitely do a Bollywood film, if the subject is good.
