Prabhu Deva was perhaps the best dancer on Indian screen. Till, Lawrence Raghavendra arrived on the scene, that is.

The two's career almost ran parallel as both started as unpretentious dance directors. Both had amazing grace and remarkable flexibility. Both tried their hands in acting. Though Prabhu Deva had been much bigger actor than Lawrence, both of theirs acting careers floundered quickly.

And after that both have taken to film direction.

Lawrence made Mass with Nagarjuna while Prabhu Deva's Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana is awaiting release.

But Prabhu Deva is under pressure not because it is his debut venture. More so because his success will be compared with that of Lawrence's. The latter has already proved his worth as Mass is one of the big hits of the season.

Prabhu Deva is confident that his film, a totally a different genre, is a nicely-packaged entertainer. "It is a fun and love film," he says.

For Prabhu Deva to really feel happy and satisfied Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana had better be a bigger hit than Mass. But that is a tall order.
