Mammootty- Aparna Gopinath starrer 'Munnariyippu' is running successfully in theatres, with rave reviews coming its way. Director Venu has revealed that the movie was originally planned as a Hindi movie. He had planned to set the movie against the backdrop of Mumbai.

The intrigue and the thriller mode in which the story progresses felt apt against a teeming city like Mumabi. It was wife and editor Beena Paul who suggested doing the story in Malayalam instead of in Hindi. Thus the story was set in Kerala, with script writer R. Unni joining the team.
