Earning $100 million in US and $201 million worldwide (90 coming from China) The Michael Bay-directed fourth installment to the Transformers series and a sequel to Transformers: Dark of the Moon has performed bigger and better posing itself as the top grosser of the year with a mammoth 301$ collections worldwide in its weekend.
Toppling "22 Jump Street", starring Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill to second spot (second week 15.4 million) while pushing the animated "How to Train Your Dragon 2" to the 3rd position ($13.1 million) Transformers: Age Of Extinction achieved the $201.3 million from 37 international territories marking its grand entry in China with $90 million.
Interestingly almost half ($ 90 million) coming from China (co -produced by the state-owned China Film Group and the China Movie Channel.) truly underling the power of Asian markets to Hollywood franchises like this.
Transformers : Age Of Extinction opened to $100 million in its domestic market (just $10 million more from China) ..
