Realistic and Relatable

Affection towards one’s belongings may be detested by sages and those who claim to follow the spiritual lines. It is true that loving a soul has more meaning that loving a lifeless object. But it is also true that everyone of us consider something we own very close to our heart. The main theme of Panniyarum Padminiyum is based on this fact. The story is built up on the premise of a kind-hearted Panniyar’s love towardsthe Premier Padmini car. Not only Panniyar the ad hoc owner of the car but everyone including Pannaiyaramma, the driver and all others in the village start loving the car and cannot think of living without that. Debutante Director Arun Kumar has portrayed this in a realistic and relatable manner.

Age is no barrier for love

Age is not a barrier for love. While this fact has been used by n number of film-makers for boast of infatuation as pure love, PP looks the fact from the other end. The script gave ample importance for love that lasts even at the age of grey hair. While one can cite a few films which have touched this horizon, PP undoubtedly stands tall in portraying the love between aged couple with its realities in such a detailed manner

Content decides

Many directors and heroes in tinsel town have admitted that Content is most important than anything else. But in most cases this realization is confined to interviews. But Arunkumar before gaining the status of being interviewed has proved that content should decide everything in a film. A star like Vijay Sethupathi who has acted in back to back hit films plays a lesser important role and his love episode with Aishwarya is a side track and Jayaprakash plays the titular role which is more important and his love towards Thulais playing the role of Panniyaramma absorbs more screen time.

Making fortune out of Ill-fortune

This is a Tamil word used to refer someone or something which is capable of bringing ill fortune. But Peedai in Pannaiyarum Padminiyum has turned out to be the big attraction. We do not know whether the makers planned this Irony, but the servant ensures rollicking fun by being honest to is name in every aspect; be it the uncombed looks, bringing ill fortune to any one by just an enquiry on well-being, sleeping at the wrong time etc. Bala Saravana who has raised as the solo comedian is surely a talent to watch out for.

Feel good factor

The film offers the right mix of comedy, romance and emotions sans tear jerkers. Everyone in the film except the daughter of Panniyar are kind hearted innocents. It’s a pleasure to watch such a world unveil on screen, even it may seem unrealistic once you are out of the movie hall.
