Vijay has had a rather subdued year so far. His Thuppakki, which released late last year, turned out to be a super-duper hit but Thalaivaa which released a few months back faced unprecedented pre-release troubles and the menace of video piracy. As a result, the film bombed at the box-office.

Vijay now counts a lot on his Pongal release Jilla which is releasing in January. It has Kajal Aggarwal, heroine of Thuppakki, pairing opposite him for the second time. Directed by Nesan and produced by RB Choudhary, the film has been directed by debutant director Nesan. Mollywood superstar Mohanlal has played a prominent role in the film which has music by D. Imman. The audio-launch of the film is scheduled to be held this Saturday.

Vijay has meanwhile topped the list of 'most searched actors' from South. The survey via search-engine Google informs that Vijay is the 'most searched' actor. He is closely followed by Suriya, superstar Rajinikanth and Ajith while Kamal Haasan is ranked 5th on the list.
