Sequels are a tough game to win in Kollywood. Yet, director Hari made a confident and smart move to bring out a sequel of the movie that was a phenomenal hit in 2010. However, he says that 'Singam 2' was not crafted to be a sequel. "A lot of story was left untold in 'Singam' and all I wanted to do was narrate what was left, and that inadvertently became a sequel. Originally, I did not intend 'Singam 2' to be a sequel, it only the continuation. That is in fact why people think it looks very similar to 'Singam'.
The posters, trailers and teasers are not misleading, for this is very much 'Singam', but only the story that which was not there in the first part" says the director, Hari. One more queer thing about the movie is why there are so many character artistes; there are as much as 50 of them, across languages! Hari explains "That is because, I want only the right person on the right job, and no compromise. Though everyone in the industry is individualistically highly talented, only a few people can carry off certain roles. For instance, I have roped in director K Vishwanath for a role in the movie, because no one else can convincingly fit into that cast. I don't want to regret if people say that the movie was good, but casting could have been better for a few roles. I want the movie to be perfect." Produced by Lakshman Kumar for Prince Pictures, starring Suriya, Anushka and Hansika in the lead, 'Singam 2' is scheduled for a worldwide release on July 5th.
