Shankar Clears 'I' Confusion

One source said that the budget for 'I' is more than 150 crore rupees, while another said that the team will recreate China in Kodaikanal. But director Shankar has discarded all of them, by coming out with a declaration that the movie's budget will be less than a 100 crores, and that the team has sought permission to shoot in China; so, recreation of China is certainly a rumour. The latest and interesting addition to the crew is Weta Workshop. Quizzed? They are the make-up masterminds behind 'Lord of the Rings', 'Avatar' and 'Hobbit'. We hear that Sean Foot of Weta has worked with Vikram for a song make-up, and the actor has given an astounding performance in the gigantic set erected by art director Muthuraj. The song was composed by AR Rahman, written by Kabilan and shot by PC Sreeram.
The crew has completed almost 70% of the shooting, constituting 4 songs and 3 action sequences. The remaining third is supposed to be out and out a Weta Workshop craft. A lot of scenes have been shot in exotic locations in China, Bangkok, Jodhpur, Kodaikanal, Pollachi and Chennai. With this update, we can expect 'I' to hit the screens by the end of this year, or latest by the beginning of next year.
