In her very first film 'Podaa Podi' itself, young Varalakshmi is playing a mother to a small child, STR’s real life nephew, Samarath. But she is happy about it, saying that the role provided her enough opportunity to test her acting skills.

"It is a film which that throws light on three different phases of life. As part of it, I will be shown as a mother. I am happy to bag such a meaty role in my maiden venture itself," says the actress.

Daughter of ace actor Sarath Kumar, Varalakshmi is not bothered about the delay in the release of 'Podaa Podi'. "We have to wait for good things. And the film will hit the screens soon," she says.

Directed by debutant Vignesh Shivaa, the film has music by Dharan. On the lead actor Simbu, Varalakshmi says, "He is a bundle of talent and a nice co-star. STR is a very good friend of mine."
