While speaking at the audio launch function of the movie, ace filmmaker Gautham Menon described 'Raatinam' as the rural version of his cult romantic film 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya'.

"I had watched some scenes of Raatinam and they impressed me a lot. It was like as if Vinnaithandi Varuvaya is made in the backdrop of a village. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I hope the audience too will," he said.

The flick being helmed by K S Thangasamy and produced by RR Films will be released this Friday. It stars an ensemble of star cast in the lead including Laguparan, Swathi, Ajaiathith, Umasree, Revathy, Raja, Dharun, Kanagasapapathi and Elizabeth among others.

Music is composed by Manuramesan, cinematography by P Rajsundar, art by Manikarthik and editing is by Gopikrishna. 'Raatinam' touted to be a rural entertainer loaded with commercial elements. "We are hopeful of the film's success in the box-office," says the director.
