Mani Ratnam is not making his forthcoming film 'Kadal' in Tamil alone. He is shooting it as a bilingual- simultaneously in Telugu as well. The Tollywood version of the movie, according to sources, has been titled 'Kadali'.

"The reason behind Mani picking Samantha, Arjun and Lakshmi Manchu to play key roles in 'Kadal' is that they would fit the bill well in the Telugu version as well, since the three are popular faces in Andhra Pradesh," sources say.

Yesteryear hero Karthik's son Gautham is the protagonist of 'Kadal', which is set in the backdrop of the lives of fishermen. Shooting for the movie recently got a kickstart at Manapad, a coast village in southern Tamil Nadu.

"Mani, who gives utmost importance to the script, has penned Kadal's screenplay and dialogues in association with ace writer Jeyamohan, who is familiar with the language and lifestyle of fishermen. This is to give authenticiy to the script," add sources.
