A Chennai court has issued notice to Vikram and three others on a petition filed against the actor's forthcoming film 'Karikalan'. The matter has been posted for hearing on January 12 at the 15th Assistant City Civil Court.
In his petition, K Rajasekaran alias K S Nagaraj, who runs GSR Vinmeen Creations, has claimed that he held the pre-emptive rights to the title and the story of the film. "Right from my school days, I was interested in the history of Karikalan," he said.
Stating that he began working on a script based on the Chola kings life in 1991, Rajasekaran said he registered the title of the film in 1994 with the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. "However, Vikram and others are now making it as a movie," he alleged.
Rajasekaran requested the court to issue a stay on the movie's shoot. Directed by L I Kannan, 'Karikalan' is based on the life of Karikala Cholan, who built the country's first dam Kallanai centuries ago. The period film is being made with the use of latest technology.
