Kajal Aggarwal has won a legal battle with VVD & Sons Pvt Ltd, with the Madras High Court restraining the hair oil manufacturer from using advertisements featuring the actress.
A bench comprising Justice R Banumathi and Justice R Mala granted the injunction while allowing an appeal from Kajal Aggarwal challenging the orders dated November 4 this year of a single judge, who refused to grant any stay.
The actress had dragged the company to court stating that it continued to use the advertisements even after the expiry of the one-year contract.
The bench observed that as the term of the agreement between the actress and the oil firm was only for a year, the company could not use her images after the expiry of that period.
The company had acquired only limited right to use the celebrity endorsement, the bench said and quashed the orders of the single judge.
In her petition, Kajal said she signed an advertisement contract with VVD on December 29, 2008, according to which she would promote their products in all medium. The contract was valid for one year. She alleged the company used the advertisements beyond the one-year period.
