The actor is playing a prince in the movie, besides a Buddhist monk and a circus artiste.
"The Bodhidharma character Suriya doing in 7aum Arivu was originally a prince, who was born as the third son of the Pallava king who ruled Tamil Nadu in sixth century. The prince later becomes a Buddhist monk and goes to China," sources tell us.
"Bodhidharma is a real life character though director AR Murugadoss has added some fiction to the incidents. He is still worshiped in many parts of China and there is a statue of him in the renowned Shaolin temple. He is a Tamilian by birth," they add.
The film produced by Udhaynidhi Stalin's Red Giant Movies is a roller coaster ride between ancient and modern eras. Shruthi Haasan plays a scientist, who is not ready to believe anything beyond science. Music is by Harris Jayaraj and his songs for the film are already making their presence felt.
