Succumbing to pressure from the industry, the Karnataka Film Producers Association (KFPA) on Thursday lifted the ban on Nikita Thukral imposed last week in the wake of alleged torture to wife by popular star Darshan, following his 'affair' with the actress.
The KFPA informed the media that the ban was lifted after they realised it would be 'wrong' to ban Nikita from acting in films for the next three years.
KFPA members and industry big guns had expressed vociferous protest over the three- year ban slapped on the actress by association president Muniratna and said the decision was unilateral.
Leading Kannada actors, including Puneet Rajkumar, Shivarajkumar, Ramesh Aravind and Tara had supported Nikita and pressurised the association to change its decision.
Darshan was arrested by the police on Friday last after his wife Vijayalakshmi filed a complaint accusing him of torturing her and her child.
