'Katradhu Thamizh' fame Ram is the latest addition to the list of directors who have started wearing the greasepaint of late. The filmmaker is playing the protagonist in his forthcoming directorial venture, titled 'Thanga Meengal'.

Produced by Gautham Vasudev Menon, the movie has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja and lyrics by Na Muthukumar. 'Thanga Meengal' is the story of a middle-aged man who has to stay away from his family to earn a livelihood.

“The next thing Gautham Menon said after listening to the story was 'I will produce it if you can play the lead role'. Following this, I shot some rehearsal scenes with the help of my friends Suba Pandian and PG Muthiah (cinematographer). I started the shooting only after I got thoroughly convinced," Ram says.

Elaborating, he says, "Many men get separated from their families just for the sake of earning money. Thanga Meengal will throw the light on one such family, which is comprised of a man, his wife and their little daughter."
