The Madras High Court on Friday granted an injunction for a week restraining Vijaya Productions from releasing their latest film 'Venghal' directed by Hari, which has Dhanush playing the lead role.

A civil suit filed D Kalaiselvam of Eka Chakra Media Private Limited (the producer by A M Jothikrishna's 'Oo La La La') said that he had chosen the title 'Venghai' for a story and screenplay that he bought from one MJ Bala.

Eka Chakra Media said based on its application, South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce (SIFCC) had registered the title 'Venghai' in August last year. The registration was valid for one year and a further renewal of six months.

Passing the order, Justice V Ramasubramanian said prima facie the SIFCC and the Tamil Producers Council appeared to have acted contrary to the registration granted in favour of the plaintiff.

He granted an interim stay for a period of one week. The matter has been posted on July 1, 2011 for further hearing.
