It was Prashanth who supervised the entire visual effects of ‘Ponnar Sankar’, his magnum opus. Directed by Thyagarajan, the actor’s father, the movie is inspired by a popular novel by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

Deeply interested in computers and technology from his early days, Prashanth was formally trained in visual effects. He has set up his own studio in Chennai with state-of-the-art facilities for ‘Ponnar Sankar’.

“Because the script demanded richness all through and we were not ready for any compromise. We wanted to bring alive on screen what Kalaignar conceived through his pen,” says Prashanth.

Soon after the release of ‘Ponnar Sankar’, the father-son duo will get busy with its other venture- ‘Malayur Mambattian’. Talking about the remake of this yesteryear Thyagarajan starrer, Prashanth says, “It was tough for me to recreate my dad’s magic. But I have given my best.”
